Today's group reporting was awesome. We learned how to deal with every type of interviewee from the evasive to the uninformed to the hysterical to the pretentious. Persistence was the key. We got information from some of these individuals because we refused to give in. Then, being able to discuss as a group and determine what our real facts were and what we could actually report was enlightening. Moreover, working with colleagues opened doors to questioning tactics and behaviors of reporting that we're effective. We also know not to eat pufferfish sushi. It can't be THAT good. Ready for tomorrow.

You're right. I also got a lot out of this activity. As someone without a background in journalism, it's so valuable that I do the same things I'm asking my students to do. Interviewing is difficult and it takes skill, practice, and persistence to get the good stuff from your sources. This is something I want to recreate for my students.
