As I struggled through nearly every part of this afternoon's assignment, I thought about how great it is to be among people who are so willing to help. Dave Seibert could have taken his lunch far from the madding crown but chose instead to answer a thousand questions, and he didn't even charge. Becca could have told me she was too busy to help me get my picture from my phone because she had her own assignment to finish, but she didn't. She patiently told me what to do. It's encouraging to be among people who aren't competing but supporting.
Our students need to feel that camaraderie as well, and it's important to give them plenty of opportunities to work together and teach each other. I appreciate that Steve told us we could ask each other for help today. (Cynthia, did you find that Cronkite quote?) Our students should be able to do the same. Perhaps teamwork is one of the first things we should establish as we start the year.

Teamwork is a great way to get things done in a timely fashion. Today, I realized how blessed I was to have other colleagues in my lunch group helping one another with ideas and sharing sources. This is a learning experience for everyone. The goal is to learn and finish strong.
