This is the whole journalism program at Roy High the year I took over in 1992--one computer and nine kids (you gotta love those fashions). I've been doing this on and off and on again for over 20 years, but I honestly thought I was done.
Just before school started this year, the journalism teacher took a job as a counselor, and the administration came to me. Talk about feeling rusty. Things have changed since 2010, the last year I taught the class, and I have a lot to learn.
I hope to re-energize myself and my kids and learn how to create an online presence. I hope to build a network of good buddies too.

Hi Terry! I'm a bit of a distant neighbor to you, teaching down at Taylorsville High, but I have lived in Roy and the Clinton area for a few years (I studied at Weber). I'm excited that I'm not the only one who really wants to build an online platform for her program. I'm looking forward to meeting you and sharing ideas!

I think I can relate Terry...After asking why there wasn't a journalism class or school newspaper the administration gave me (notice how I didn't say offered) the journalism class that hadn't existed for several years. Talk about a reality check lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited and hoping to make it a strong program and publication but I now know it will take several years not just one.
