The countdown has officially begun.

Washington, D.C.

In just about 24 hours, I will board an airplane at Dulles Airport and travel to Arizona.  Although I have a love hate relationship with weather related heat, I am looking forward to hitting the pavement in Phoenix.  After all, being selected to attend ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism is an honor. This opportunity will absolutely allow me to bring another level of learning to my students.

As a teacher in the nation’s capital, I believe my students have unique stories to tell, urban myths to dispel, breathtaking experiences to describe and historical places to explore.  I am eager to learn everything I can in order to teach my students how to creatively share their stories, experiences and explorations via a middle school newspaper or a literary magazine.

Time to pack my sunblock, water bottle, large brim hat and AP Stylebook.
