I love typography

I considered who would have been the decision makers regarding this signage for the city of Gilbert.

There was probably a meeting of the city council or chamber of commerce. They talked about the budget and where they could place the signage in the community.

The entire design was probably left to someone who specialized in creating signage of this nature. I question how much thought was even put into the type style by the decision makers.

Assembly was probably completed by tradesmen who specialize in brick installation. They followed the drawings presented, which probably spaced the support bars for the letters evenly without consideration for the spacing of the letters. There may have been a city official or a photographer in attendance at the installation.

What it boils down to is, this is something no one sees. Or at least they don’t realize what they are seeing. It is up to the designer to be meticulous when it comes to these details.
